Planet
at the Convention of the Left
Monday 22nd september
Friends Meeting House, Mount Street, Manchester
Pollution,
species extinction, de-forestation, climate change - the litany
of environmental destruction can leave us feeling powerless. But
should we despair? PLANET day at the Convention seeks to pose
some vital questions for our age. Can we beat climate change -
with or without nuclear power? Can we build the movement needed
to make our rulers act? Can unions defend workers’ jobs
and the planet? Do we need socialism to save the planet or must
the planet come first? Can ‘eco-socialism’ successfully
marry red and green? Should poorer countries clean up before being
allowed to develop?
Plus "Sold Out" - a subversive photographic
exhibition by David Dunnico - examining the sinister undertones
of advertising.
